Dr Emma Howson

Dr Emma Howson initially joined The Pirbright Institute as a PhD student in 2013, focusing on the development and evaluation of molecular tools for the diagnosis of foot-and-mouth disease in low-resource settings. In addition to regular working within high-containment laboratory facilities, she has conducted collaborative research projects with a network of overseas partners in both laboratory and field-settings within East Africa (Tanzania and Kenya). Emma has experience designing and assisting in outreach activities, including running overseas training courses and sharing scientific outputs with international audiences.
